As such, no single participant has comprehensive visibility of the system's performance, leaving users in the dark.

Qualoo emerges as a solution, championing a cooperative shared economy model that empowers individuals to contribute to a more efficient, transparent internet. We strive to construct a decentralized network for the collection of internet performance data. # Current industry benchmarking is not fit for purpose.

Present performance tracking and benchmarking approaches for service providers are inadequate in today's globally interconnected internet landscape. These methods not only fail to accurately reflect the user experience, but they also foster a culture where service providers may feel incentivized to skew results. Additionally, they promote an overly narrow focus on the final leg of broadband service delivery, specifically pertaining to download and upload speeds.

This type of speed measurement is typically served by a crowd sourced web solutions such as Ookla's speedtest.net and offers only a snapshot test result when an end user initiates a test and which by default runs to the closest test server to the end user. This does not take in to account the variation in performance over time which can be affected by temporary events, faults or time of  day such as peak usage typically on an evening during 7pm-11pm.

Internet service providers tactically position their speed test servers near the customer's edge, thereby reducing the number of network elements and the corresponding latency. This effectively curbs the impact of possible data loss. In essence, this tactic allows service providers to mask potential issues like core or border gateway network congestion from the data. Thus, speed test performance data often only mirrors performance up to the halfway point of a service provider's network. Furthermore, the functionality of Speedtest is skewed to overstate the maximum theoretical throughput that the line can support. It accomplishes this by utilizing multiple TCP threads, allowing the line to accelerate to speed, and discarding the bottom 30% of results. This approach further contributes to a result that appears better than the reality experienced by users when they engage with an internet application.

Broadband speed test data currently forms the basis of many internet reports and rankings. These, in turn, are frequently cited by technical resources, media platforms, governments, and telecoms providers as a reliable measure of performance trends. However, considering that the internet is a global network of interconnected networks, solely relying on data points gathered from end-users to a mid-way point in a user's internet service provider can't truly reflect the end user's internet experience. Often, in cases of intermittent poor service, speed test data continues to display flawless results. This is because issues related to the service provider's core network and gateways—which are frequently the root of the problem and within the provider's control—are ignored.

As many internet service providers around the world are investing in next generation network solutions including FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) and 5G networks , the average speed test result of the typically user has increased exponentially with new regulator focus pushing for gigabit services to the home this is a trend that will continue, however this has often just shifted the bottle neck form the home to the telecoms exchanges and the same level of investment is needed on the interconnect between service providers and to data centers where popular services are served from. &#x20;

Qualoo network is designed to test internet performance in the same way an end user would experience it, while also ensuring data is collected to support new global digitization initiatives that call for true global connectivity, and an inter-connected population where no individual is left behind. This changes the focus from a very narrow view on last mile service speeds to a global connected network where each stakeholder can not only improve their own network, but also optimize their decision making of which 3rd party networks to partner and share traffic with.&#x20;


# Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of experience (QoE)

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) characterizes Quality of Service (QoS) as "the collective attributes of a telecommunication service that influence its capacity to satisfy the user's expressed and implicit needs" ([source](https://www.itu.int/rec/T-REC-E.800-200809-I/en)). QoS is primarily assessed through objective metrics such as bandwidth, packet loss ratio, latency, etc. However, QoS measurement may vary depending on the location within the network where it is evaluated.

The ITU defines Quality of Experience (QoE) as "the user's level of satisfaction or frustration with an application or service" ([source](https://www.itu.int/rec/T-REC-P.10-201711-I/en)). While QoE is linked to QoS, it also relies on subjective factors like the user's mood, the device used, and time of day. There is an ongoing discussion within the telecommunications industry about the best way to quantify QoE. Several models exist, but the connection between QoE and QoS can be simplified as follows:

Considering that users prioritize QoE, which influences their decisions to lodge complaints with their service provider or switch providers, it's critical to establish a method for measuring this in a system that monitors internet performance. We propose several principles that must be fulfilled to ensure QoS data measurements align as closely as possible with QoE:

* **Extensive Data Coverage**: The user experience should be assessed over a wide geographical area and with enough independent data points to support statistical analysis.
* **Customer-Level Measurement**: Testing should occur at network points where the user interacts with the internet, such as the user's home, office, coffee shop, etc.
* **Independent Unbiased Data**: Test results should be impartial, and analysis should be conducted independently of industry stakeholders to mitigate conflict of interest concerns.
* **Data Sharing**: The collected data should be shared more openly than is currently standard in the industry, to prevent duplicate efforts and establish a single source of truth.
* **Actionable Insights**: Data should be analysed to identify major events and ongoing service-impacting issues. The collected data and insights should be available to relevant stakeholders for necessary actions.


# Current challenges in the telecommunications / internet industry

Despite significant advancements, the internet industry continues to grapple with a multitude of issues. In developed markets like the US, internet downtime remains a critical problem. Over the last three years, approximately 20% of organizations have experienced a significant outage, presenting substantial costs in terms of lost productivity, revenue, data, and increased customer support, not to mention reputational damage. On average, downtime costs around $9,000 per minute ([source](https://trilio.io/resources/cost-of-downtime/)).

Maintaining robust internet performance is paramount for Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Inability to provide reliable service is a leading reason for customers to switch providers ([source](https://www.infinivan.com/top-five-reasons-why-businesses-switch-isp/)). Customer attrition is a significant drain on resources in this industry, costing US ISPs around $780 million per year ([source](https://wp.nyu.edu/adityakapoor/2017/02/17/churn-in-the-telecom-industry-identifying-customers-likely-to-churn-and-how-to-retain-them/)).

To ensure high-quality service delivery, ISPs heavily invest in their own network infrastructure. Network-related costs constitute roughly 50% of the industry's operating expenses, which are costs associated with running their business ([source](https://www.mtn-c.com/product/telco-opex-analyzer-2016-21/)). Globally, these operating expenses amount to approximately $1.5 trillion ([source](https://inform.tmforum.org/features-and-opinion/the-impact-of-5g-and-cloud-on-telco-capex-and-opex/)). Additionally, between 60% to 90% of capital expenditures, the funds used for building, acquiring, and maintaining physical infrastructure, are allocated to the network ([source](https://inform.tmforum.org/features-and-opinion/global-trends-in-telco-opex/)). In 2021, these capital expenditures totaled $326 billion ([source](https://www.mtn-c.com/telcos-are-upgrading-their-workforce-but-it-comes-at-a-price/))

In spite of the importance of maintaining a high-performing internet for both customers and ISPs, along with other stakeholders in the industry, there remain a number of unresolved performance challenges. We identify the key issues as follows:

1. No single ISP possesses enough high-quality data on internet performance.
2. Data sharing within the industry is not a common practice.
3. ISPs encounter difficulties in accessing and utilizing data within their own organizations.
4. End users typically have limited visibility into internet performance.


# No single ISP possesses enough high-quality data on internet performance

The internet, with its sprawling infrastructure, is incredibly extensive and technically challenging to build and maintain, making it a costly venture. Hundreds of thousands of miles of undersea cables—buried up to thousands of meters beneath the ocean surface—facilitate most intercontinental data transmission and demand regular upkeep. Given the enormity and cost of the internet infrastructure, it is beyond the scope of any single company or country to construct and sustain it. The ownership of this infrastructure is not exclusive to Internet Service Providers (ISPs); it is shared among larger ISPs, infrastructure investment funds, and leading tech firms such as Google and Facebook.

This highly fragmented ownership results in no single ISP (or other industry stakeholder) having access to performance data spanning the entire internet infrastructure. Yet, customers rely heavily on this infrastructure for their daily online activities, including accessing popular global websites. Consequently, when there is a drop in internet performance, ISPs face significant challenges in identifying the cause due to inadequate data visibility regarding where the issue is occurring.

Moreover, ISPs might not always gather the most accurate data to resolve customer issues. While ISPs commonly collect performance data through network probes located within their own networks, they do not necessarily measure performance data at the customer's point of experience—inside the customer's home. Implementing such a measure poses operational difficulties for ISPs, as they would need to individually contact customers and seek their permission.

Furthermore, ISPs' network tests are primarily focused on technical performance indicators (QoS), such as the speed of data transmission through specific cables. They do not typically collect data that reflects the actual customer experience (QoE), which can differ greatly and is the key concern for customers.


# Data sharing within the industry is not a common practice

Given that customers rely on a broader internet infrastructure than that owned by their individual ISPs, data sharing among ISPs could significantly enhance the capacity of each ISP to identify and resolve network issues. This sharing is crucial as each ISP must appropriately configure the interfaces connecting them to other ISPs.

Data sharing in the industry is, however, notably limited. While ISPs are required to cooperate to interlink their infrastructure, they often compete for the same customer base, constraining their willingness to share data. Additionally, the absence of an industry standard or a dedicated platform for data sharing does not facilitate the process for ISPs.

Consequently, ISPs tend to operate in isolation with respect to the data they access, rather than embracing collective responsibility with other internet infrastructure owners/operators to ensure collaborative efforts for the betterment of end users.


# ISPs encounter difficulties in accessing and utilizing data within their own organizations

Internet Service Providers (ISPs) typically monitor performance data within their Network Operations Centre (NOC), a specialised unit within the organization. Only a select few employees within this unit typically have the expertise to understand and interpret this data.

The data and insights derived from network performance monitoring within the NOC are not widely utilized for decision-making across the organization. Employees outside the NOC often lack the necessary understanding to effectively use this data, despite numerous divisions potentially benefiting from it. For instance, the marketing department, which targets reducing customer churn, and technical support, which aims to resolve customer complaints, could benefit from this data.

ISPs frequently engage external vendors or contractors for technical support when dealing with substantial, ongoing network issues. These contractors often utilize NOC data, potentially supplementing it with their own data collected via network probes, and present this information to managerial employees positioned outside the NOC.


# End users typically have limited visibility into internet performance

End users, or consumers, typically lack comprehensive visibility into the actual quality and reliability of their internet connectivity. ISPs usually do not provide this information transparently to end users. Even though consumers pay for internet service based on specific parameters, such as advertised connection speed, the ISP typically does not provide an easy means for the end user to verify whether they are indeed receiving the service as stipulated in their contract.

There are some tools available that consumers can use independently to gain some insight into their internet performance. For example, Ookla's Speedtest ([www.speedtest.net](http://www.speedtest.net/)) is a popular tool that measures the speed of an internet connection, typically to a server located in the user's country. These tests can help users determine whether their ISP is meeting their contractual obligations in terms of speed (one aspect of QoS), but they do not offer a comprehensive measure of the overall Quality of Experience (QoE).

Consequently, when consumers face internet issues, they have limited means to understand the root cause. They are mostly reliant on their ISP to identify and resolve the problem, often leading to prolonged downtimes and sub-optimal service. This lack of transparency and control can be a significant frustration for end users.


# What happens when a user browses the internet?

We present a simplified depiction of how the internet operates, using the example of a user from one country accessing a website hosted on servers in another country. In this scenario, the user is in one part of the world, the destination server is on a different continent, and the user successfully loads the webpage.

* **Starting the request**: The user enters a website address (e.g., [www.abc.com](http://www.abc.com)) into their web browser and presses enter. This action triggers a request to open the specified webpage.
* **Conversion of request to packets**: The request is broken into data packets according to the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) for modular transmission. Beyond this point, all information is transmitted in these packets.
* **Domain Name System (DNS) lookup**: The request is then forwarded to a DNS server, which translates the domain name ([www.abc.com](http://www.abc.com)) into an IP address that identifies the server.
* **Server choice**: In the case of websites owned by large tech companies, the request is often directed to a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to find a locally stored copy of the desired webpage. If there is no CDN, or the CDN does not have a stored version of the page, the request proceeds to the origin server.
* **Routing the request**: The request, via the Internet Service Provider (ISP), travels to the destination (CDN or Origin Server). This path typically involves passing through numerous routers, networks, and submarine cables.
* **Accessing the server**: Once the request packets arrive at the destination server, they are compiled into the original request. The server then produces a response, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files, which are segmented into data packets for return to the user.
* **Routing the response**: The server dispatches the response packets back to the initiating browser through a similar sequence of hops.
* **Rendering the response**: The browser uses the response to display the webpage


# What are the key components of internet infrastructure?

The physical infrastructure that supports global data transmission, often referred to as the internet backbone, can be owned by commercial entities, government bodies, or academic institutions. This backbone transmits substantial quantities of data and comprises the following components:

* **Fibre optic cables**: These cables are critical for major data routes, providing high-speed data transmission. Submarine cables laid on the seafloor for intercontinental data transmission are essentially fiber optic cables with protective casing.
* **Routers and Switches**: These guide data packets between computer networks, handling traffic operations. Each router is connected to at least two networks.
* **Internet Exchange Points (IXPs)**: These are physical locations where different networks (like ISPs or CDNs) exchange internet traffic.
* **Network Access Points (NAPs)**: As an alternative to connecting via an IXP, ISPs can directly link their networks through a peering arrangement, referred to as a NAP.
* **Data Centers**: These are extensive facilities that host servers, storage, and other telecommunication equipment.
* **Content Delivery Networks (CDNs)**: Geographically distributed networks of proxy servers that improve performance by locating servers closer to internet users
* **Satellites**: Primarily used for providing internet access to areas lacking terrestrial internet infrastructure such as remote islands (or planes in flight)


# What does an Internet Service Provider (ISP) network look like?

One can envision a country's internet network as a system of tree roots. The central roots are thicker and as we move away from the center, the roots become more distributed and thinner. In this analogy, the central points are where large Internet Service Providers (ISPs) establish international connections. In a medium-sized country, only a few ISPs may have these international connections, meaning all the country's network traffic must pass through a limited number of routers to leave the country.

Smaller ISPs would connect to these larger ones to direct traffic internationally, most likely via an Internet Exchange Point (IXP). These connection points form what is known as the Core Network, which in a small to medium country, would likely be located in a single city.

SPs extend their Access Network to provide internet services to their customer base across the regions they cover, which could be an entire country or specific provinces/states. The Access Network is where ISPs install their cell towers to deliver 3G/4G/5G services to mobile phone users. For fixed broadband end users, connection to the Access Network is facilitated through Points of Presence (PoPs).

# How do ISPs monitor their networks?

ISPs oversee their networks from a Network Operations Centre, which usually falls under the Technology department. This Operations Centre is essentially a large control room featuring numerous screens that display various information such as network usage, providing warnings if specific metrics fall outside the acceptable range.

ISPs tend to concentrate their monitoring on the core network as it is the primary conduit for all data and any issues here would affect a significant number of their customers. There are several approaches that ISPs might follow to monitor their networks, which for simplicity's sake, we can categorize into three main types:

1. **Reactive Monitoring**: Some ISPs adopt a basic, reactive model, where issues are primarily identified through customer complaints. The resolution method involves dispatching technicians to customer locations.
2. **Network Management System (NMS) Driven**: A more advanced approach involves the use of a Network Management System, often provided by a major equipment manufacturer (e.g., Nokia, Huawei). These systems provide data on system monitoring metrics, such as CPU usage and bandwidth utilization. However, this measurement approach isn't explicitly issue-oriented, and not all problems can be detected using this method.
3. **Advanced Data Monitoring and Automated Action**: The most progressive ISPs might take one or both of the following steps, though a limited number of ISPs globally have achieved this level of development:
   * **Issue Identification**: Implementing a system that focuses on capturing data that identifies a broader range of issues than can be detected by an NMS alone. This system is usually provided by a third party.
   * **Action**: They have set up automated actions in response to known issues. For example, they might reroute traffic or activate additional resources once capacity reaches 40%

The team in charge of network monitoring at the Network Operations Centre is usually led by a mid-level management employee. Their reports to senior management typically focus on average network utilization over the previous period. However, this approach doesn't emphasize issue identification or resolution performance and may not be leveraged to its full potential within the organization.

In collaboration with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Qualoo has developed guidelines that aid in the implementation of the ASEAN Digital Masterplan (ADM) 2025. The goal is to develop a digital society that is founded on high-quality, ubiquitous, and high-speed connectivity across ASEAN. This entails improving existing infrastructure, expanding connectivity to unconnected regions, and catering to underserved areas.

Qualoo produced the Guidelines for Quality of Experience (QoE) Framework to assist in executing ADM 2025, promoting cooperation and collaboration between ASEAN member states in enhancing internet quality and customer experience. The document underscores the need for a data-driven approach to enhance the end-user experience, proposing a monitoring network for proactive optimization, strategic investment, and effective governance. This is projected to augment the customer experience for internet end users and diminish the industry's delivery costs.

Key features of the QoE Framework document include:

1. **Establishment of Unified Standards**: The framework initiates unified standards across all member states, fostering collaboration and improving connectivity quality.
2. **Use of Comprehensive Metrics**: The framework introduces a comprehensive range of metrics that align with regional strategic and digitization goals. These metrics concentrate on the objective of measuring QoE, not QoS.

# Test Nodes

Participation in the Qualoo Test Network is open to all individuals or businesses, and it can be done in three ways

* **Fixed Test Node**: A hardware device that the individual purchases from Qualoo that comes with the necessary software pre-installed or a dedicated smart phone or other compatible device with Qualoo application installed that is physically connected to a wi-fi router or modem via ethernet cable.
* **Mobile Test Node**: Individual's own smartphone or tablet with Qualoo native application installed and Test Node activated.
* **Browser Extension.** Simple web based Qualoo native application installed on any computer.

Each of these methods provides different types of test data, and both have their specific advantages.

**Mobile Test Nodes**: These can use any smartphone. Since smartphones can move around, the data they provide is dynamic, reflecting the performance of different networks in different locations. This can be particularly relevant in developing markets, where many users rely primarily on mobile data.

**Fixed Test Nodes**: These are directly connected to the user's router and remain in a fixed location. They offer a consistent measure of the network's performance in a particular setting. # Standard testing process

These factors include the user's service provider, specific location, the quality of past submissions, how long it has been since the user last submitted test results, and certain metadata, such as the quality of the user's mobile signal for Mobile Test Nodes.

# Custom testing process

The Qualoo network will be major infrastructure asset, offering fixed and mobile test points, that not only will span the entire globe but will also serve multiple use cases far beyond that of the initial goal of securing our digital online experience. Our vision is that 3rd parties can leverage this global asset to derive their own location-based testing , analytics or distributed infrastructure needs.&#x20;

One of the initial implementations of this will be the ability to conduct custom tests. This will be initially a customable option of Qualoo's existing tests but will eventually be extended to a similar function to a virtual machine where 3rd parties can write their own programs to conduct tests or analyze data.&#x20;

&#x20;This service can be particularly beneficial to clients who deliver services over the internet , examples of this would be e-commerce web provides or Over-The-Top (OTT) video or cloud service providers, who can not only test their own own service quality of service alongside general internet performance from each endpoint, but also competitor services. This will help organizations understand the impact 3rd party network and internet service providers have on their own service delivery to customers, but also help optimize their own network , expand strategically for maximum benefit to users and also better keep customers informed of intermittent issues which may impact user experience.&#x20;

The process for custom testing is similar to that of standard testing:

1. **Communication via API:** Prior to a custom test, the Qualoo platform communicates with selected Test Nodes via the Qualoo API. This ensures the coordination of test timing and the submission of results.
2. **Test Slot Allocation:** For each custom test, a specific number of test slots are allocated. End users will have the option to opt-in to perform custom test jobs and increase their earnings potential.  Test Nodes are selected to participate based on factors such as the user's service provider, location, quality of past submissions, and other metadata like the quality of the user's mobile signal (for Mobile Test Nodes).

Results from custom test will be available to users in a number of ways from pre-built custom broadcast reports, alerts, dashboards or raw data access via API. Custom testing requires a premium subscription package or additional credits which can be purchased in fiat or QXT.&#x20;

The tests run on each Test Node may differ based on the type of Test Node and other considerations. For example, mobile signal tests can only be run on Mobile Test Nodes. Additionally, tests with higher bandwidth requirements, like bandwidth tests or video streaming tests, may not be run as frequently to minimize the impact on users' data. This approach ensures a balanced and effective testing process that provides valuable data without excessively burdening users' resources.


# Analytics Platform

Qualoo's Test Network collects user experience and engineering performance data, encompassing elements like service quality, network routing, and data delivery. These tests are meticulously designed to generate high-quality data, with insights derived from a unified testing approach and comprehensive analysis across the Qualoo network, informed by decade of telecom consultancy experience.

Managing the vast real-time data collected, we utilize diverse methodologies for data storage, processing, and conversion into bespoke solutions tailored to various client segments and use cases. These solutions range from raw data, alerts, reports, dashboards, and visualizations to features like issue fingerprinting, real-time diagnostics, and push notifications.

Qualoo's Artificial Neural Network (ANN) harnesses machine learning to analyze real-time test results gathered every 15 minutes from each node. These tests cover the entire internet delivery stack and popular apps, with the ANN trained to predict service impacts and diagnose root causes.

### Fixed Test Nodes

The fixed node refers to a standalone hardware device that can be connected to any ISP or Telecommunications network. The device’s sole purpose is to analyze network traffic and various connectivity metrics via continuous or event-based tests. The fixed node provides the highest measure of reliability for a given network’s data since it is physically connected and operating continuously. Because of this, the deployment and installation of fixed nodes among various parts of the network are pivotal for Qualoo’s test network data pipeline.  Aside from Qualoo's dedicated hardware device, other devices that are compatible for Qualoo node software installation can be used and include, smartphones connected to a router or modem via a powered ethernet cable, dedicated servers and other hardware devices such as those used for blockchain mining or validating.

Because Qualoo fixed node hardware devices require operational and manufacturing costs to produce and deploy, the company must offset these costs by potentially requiring upfront payment in return for a cryptocurrency-based incentive mechanism, such as rewards emissions for data provisioning to the test network. Additionally, the registration and designation of the fixed test node among various points of the test network without transfer of ownership or intermittent operation is essential for the data feed. Qualoo incorporates a token rewards mechanism for each fixed node operator to register this device to a user’s account, where they will be granted a node NFT to verify activation and ownership.

If users elect to accrue token rewards, they must provide a decentralized wallet address that\
will be whitelisted to claim their accumulating rewards. After registration, an NFT identifier\
corresponding to their specific Fixed Node Device is sent to their designated wallet address.\
This NFT serves as a certificate of authentication, denoting the device was successfully\
registered to the intended user, the device is actively connected, and the user is eligible to\
accrue token rewards. The NFT is also used for logging into rewards claiming function, where\
the designated wallet address must be holding the NFT to redeem tokens granted to the\

### Rewards pools

Two main reward categories exist: standard testing and custom testing. Each category is funded separately, and while the beneficiaries might overlap, they are not identical. Custom testing reward recipients constitute a subset of the larger group of standard testing reward recipients. There is no reward pool for airdrops as their distribution to Test Network participants aligns with Qualoo's marketing activities and roadmap.

### Standard testing rewards pool

The standard testing rewards pool receives allocations from two sources: the ecosystem rewards allocation and client revenue accrued from standard products. Initially, the ecosystem rewards allocation predominantly fuels this pool, but client revenue will take precedence as demand escalates over time.

#### Ecosystem rewards allocation

The release of the ecosystem rewards allocation is steered by two factors:

* **Baseline release**: This is based on a simple exponential decay model with a three year half-life.
* **Scaling factor**: This factor, which takes the ecosystem's growth into account, is applied on top of the baseline.

The scaling factor adjusts rewards downward initially when the number of network participants is low. As the ecosystem expands, the release schedule factoring in the scaling factor converges to the baseline release schedule.

#### Client revenue (Standard Products)

Client revenue paid to Qualoo is employed to fund ecosystem rewards, influenced by multiple underlying mechanisms:

* **Client cashflow**: Specifically it is client payment flows received by Qualoo within a period of time (e.g. month) that drive this portion of rewards
* **Rewards Replenishment:** Upon receiving payment from clients, a predetermined percentage of revenues are redistributed into the ecosystem. This percentage can never be lower than 10% but can be adjusted upwards.
* **Secondary Market Token Purchase**: This shared revenue is then used to buy tokens on the secondary market, which are allocated to various ecosystem benefits:

Here, the Network Allocation Factor plays a role, wherein a specified portion of the revenue is shared with the Test Network participants involved in those tests. This allocated revenue is used to purchase QXT tokens on the secondary market, which are then added to the Custom testing rewards pool.

On a regular basis, rewards are made open for network participants to claim. The guiding principle is that participants should be compensated based on the value they contribute to the network. Therefore, several factors influence individual allocations for standard testing rewards:

* **Test Node Type**: Fixed Test Nodes receive larger rewards than Mobile Test Nodes.

Each month, each Test Node is given a performance score reflecting its contribution and offered guidance for future improvements. Users who fail to meet a minimum participation threshold will not be eligible for token rewards (e.g., a user whose Test Node submits only one set of test results in a month). Participants with high performance scores have an added advantage that they have a higher likelihood to be chosen for custom testing rewards.

Fewer factors are taken into account when allocating tokens for custom testing. Rewards are mainly distributed based on Test Node type, the number of data submissions, and the types of connectivity tests performed.

### Token rewards prior to token generation event (TGE)

Participants in the Test Network can start earning rewards even before the Token Generation Event (TGE). These rewards come in the form of **QXT Points**, which serve two key purposes:

**Certificates of quality:**  As the network matures, Qualoo will start assessing various Internet Service Providers (ISPs) for their service quality. Top performers will be awarded certificates of quality, which will be recorded on the blockchain.
